I’ve just finished my first 4-week AI uplift contractor engagement, with an AIM spinout. I’d like to offer more of these to AIM spinouts, working async to help them clean up their operations, as 2–3 month engagements. The main learning from the first one is that founders struggle to reply async due to being overwhelmed.

I also made eaaiuplift.com ↗ → a public directory and place for skill sharing, plus a way of assessing your current usage/skill and the skill of your org. I DM’d ~70 people in the EA AI Uplift Slack to get their opt-in. I’m keen to get case studies on there to increase adoption with other orgs.

I’ve been doing this for ~3 months, including ~5 hours a week with a team lead at 80,000 Hours for 10 weeks (case study above). ~20% of the time I’m simply body doubling → one client, all I do is body double whilst he replies to emails, and I check in every 5 minutes to help keep his metacognition high.

So I’ve been building ughbusting.com ↗ to replace myself on those calls. You jump on a call with an AI voice who does the same thing I would do, checking in every 5 mins. It combines the “I am on a call with someone and am accountable” feeling of a coaching call or Focusmate with the financial stakes of Beeminder: you commit to n calls per week, pre-book them as you would with a coach, and you’re fined if you don’t attend. It’s ~2 weeks old, built in the background between other engagements.
